A Brilliant Night of Community Support at Our Family Fun Night

What a night. 💛

Our Freddie’s Ataxia Fund Family Fun Night at Harris Academy in Dundee brought together more than 200 people - families, friends and supporters, and thanks to everyone who came along we raised over £6,000 to support people living with Friedreich’s Ataxia in Tayside.

The evening began with a special moment as Freddie’s Ataxia Fund founder Eilidh Kiddie, who lives with Friedreich’s Ataxia, took to the stage. Eilidh was joined by Cally Benvie, who also lives with FA and has been supported by the charity with a custom wheelchair grant.

Their conversation was open, honest and full of warmth. Together they shared what life with Friedreich’s Ataxia looks like day-to-day, and how support from family, community and organisations like Freddie’s Ataxia Fund helps people live with dignity, independence and confidence. It was a powerful and inspiring start to the evening and set the tone for what followed.

Then the fun really began.

For just £5 a ticket (with under 12s free), families were able to enjoy a packed evening of games and activities. Every game was just £1 to play, and the hall quickly filled with laughter and friendly competition.

Activities included:

* Human fruit machine

* Tombola

* Hoopla

* Sweetie pong

* Photo booth

* Guess the number of sweets in the jar

* Chocolate dice

* Hook a duck

* Guess the teddy’s birthday

* Throw a coin nearest the bottle

* A fantastic raffle

And of course… three lively rounds of bingo

The night wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of local businesses who helped make the event extra special.

We’re incredibly grateful to:

Clarks Bakeryfor providing delicious platters of sandwiches and boxes of donuts

Tesco, Riverside for donating rolls for our hot dogs

Marks & Spencer for beautiful flowers and plants that Becky Samson kindly created the lovely table arrangements with.

We were also blown away by the generosity of those who donated prizes for our silent auction, including original artwork and holiday stays in the Highlands. Your support helped make a huge difference to the funds raised on the night.

As organisers of the event, trustees of the charity and family of Eilidh, we truly felt the love and support of our community throughout the evening.

Freddie’s Ataxia Fund is a small family-run charity, and events like this remind us just how incredible our community in Dundee and beyond really is.

To everyone who bought a ticket, donated a prize, helped run a stall, volunteered their time, or simply came along and joined in the fun — thank you.

Your support helps us continue our mission to support people living with Friedreich’s Ataxia and their families.

We’re already looking forward to the next one.
