Thank You Reece - Our Young Fundraising Star!
We’re delighted to shine a spotlight on an inspiring young fundraiser who has shown incredible creativity, determination, and kindness over the past year.
Reece Wilkinson, a 14-year-old pupil from Morgan Academy in Dundee, has raised more than £600 for Freddie’s Ataxia Fund – and he’s done it in the most inventive way!
Handmade for a Good Cause
Reece has spent the last year designing and making mini beanbag phone holders, which he has sold to friends, family, teachers, and fellow pupils. He’s also taken his creations to school fairs, where they’ve proved to be a big hit.
Reece first heard about Freddie’s Ataxia Fund through a close school connection: Eilidh’s dad, Graeme Kiddie, who was Head of PE at Morgan Academy. Inspired to help, Reece put his talents to work, crafting these brilliant little phone holders and donating every penny of profit to the charity.
With the support of his teacher, Elaine Scott, Reece’s project has gone from strength to strength – and his efforts have now raised more than £600, which will go directly towards helping local people living with Friedreich’s Ataxia through FAF grants.
Kindness That Makes a Difference
Sally Kiddie, Chair of Freddie’s Ataxia Fund, said:
“Reece’s thoughtfulness and dedication are truly remarkable. For someone so young to give his time and talents in support of others is inspiring. On behalf of the trustees, I want to thank Reece for everything he has done – his kindness will make a real difference to people living with Friedreich’s Ataxia in our community.”
A Lasting Impact
Not only has Reece raised vital funds, but he has also helped spread awareness of Friedreich’s Ataxia and the work of our charity within the Morgan Academy community. His beanbag phone holders have sparked countless conversations, and each one sold has been a reminder of the power of young people to create change.
And the good news? Reece isn’t stopping yet! He continues to make and sell his colourful creations, meaning even more support for Freddie’s Ataxia Fund in the future.
Thank You, Reece 💙
On behalf of everyone at Freddie’s Ataxia Fund, we want to say a huge thank you to Reece, Elaine, and everyone at Morgan Academy who has supported this brilliant initiative. You are helping us turn Eilidh’s vision into reality – providing grants that enable people with Friedreich’s Ataxia in Tayside to live their best possible lives.
